Hello!
Thank you for your part in a great semester in Math Pioneers! Our closing week was a success, pictures below. By way of reminder,
Your Math Pioneer will have access to Mathletics, America's No. 1 Math Website, all summer long!
The same unique username and password that your Pioneer is currently using will be available all summer! Also, I will be checking progress and promoting Pioneers throughout the summer. Your Pioneer can choose to do as much or as little as you feel is appropriate for your family. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hello!
The pictures above are few of the 3D solids that Pioneers have constructed from geometric nets. They range from cubes to truncated icosahedrons. They've done a great job... and have used quite a bit of tape!
It was great to be back with the Pioneers this morning following a week off for ISTEP. Although there were no official classes last week, a number of Pioneers worked outside of school to earn a Certificate Award. They are listed below.

Hello!
Although that a lengthy update does not come often, it is time for a midyear summary of how the Mathletics program is impacting our Math Pioneers program at CCS. A few items to note from the above data:
To summarize, CCS Pioneers are excelling in their very own personal learning spaces, and this is ideal! Using targeted curriculum content, interactive support, and engaging games and rewards, the Mathletics website has helped the Math Pioneers program to become a valuable hub for learning math! What was not mentioned above is the 577 hours and over 1,600 signins completed since September. Parents, thank you for our partnership and support in this process. Below you will find the list of Certificate Awards earned last week. There are no specific SuperMathletes listed this week, all of the Pioneers have had a super year so far!
Although that a lengthy update does not come often, it is time for a midyear summary of how the Mathletics program is impacting our Math Pioneers program at CCS. A few items to note from the above data:
"Live Mathletics" (59,975 correct answers!) is a live gaming area that is so much more than a fun diversion! It is a fastpaced and exciting way for Pioneers to "warm up" during the first few minutes of class, all while improving mathematical fluency. Students are matched in realtime with others around the world, or they may issue a challenge to their fellow Pioneers in 60second math races to answer as many math questions as they can. Points are awarded for each correct answer. Speed and accuracy are the key, three incorrect answers and they are out of the game! Almost 60,000 correct answers since September is phenomenal! The Pioneers love this competition!
"Curriculum" (42,658 correct answers!) includes over 1200 individual adaptive practice activities specifically aligned to various statebased standards, also worth points towards a Certificate Award each week. Based on individual abilities, I have assigned each Pioneer to a specific course and I then promote Pioneers to a new level when mastery of a current level is achieved. These courses consist of topics based on domains, clusters, and standards. Activities within each topic provide adaptive practice and each topic has a pre and post assessment. As Pioneers work during each weekly session, I am able to rotate to each Pioneer answering questions and explaining concepts while catering to each individual's learning style and level. As shown above, our Pioneers have answered over 42,000 questions correctly this year!
The remaining portions of the above summary include data regarding how students have improved on the curriculum activities (37.7% overall improvement) as well as the number of Certificate Awards earned thus far by CCS's 29 Pioneers (316 awards). Keep in mind that each of the 316 certificates represents over 1,000 points earned in a particular week. However, many of our Pioneers earn above that benchmark each week!

Hello!
Math Pioneers is off to a great start this semester! Thank you for getting your Pioneers to school early.
For Pioneers who are new to the program this semester: Your student was given a letter detailing their unique password for the Mathletics website as well as information for parents to sign up to receive weekly reports regarding your Pioneer's progress. Please note that Pioneers can log into their accounts anytime by going to the website and using their unique username and password. If you have misplaced the username and password, please email me and I will make sure you have it.
Additionally, Pioneers may earn one Certificate Award (beginning with Bronze and progressing towards Silver and Gold) each week by reaching 1,000 points during that week. A Pioneer could realistically reach this goal in 45 minutes per week, and a large portion of this will be accomplished in the weekly meeting. Encourage your Pioneer!

Something new a weekly update sent on a Monday! Because our week technically begins every Monday (ends Sunday at midnight), I thought it might be time for a change & would like to update you earlier than later on your Pioneers' work last week! Please keep in mind that many students did not have classes last week due to the Thanksgiving break & were of course not required to spend time working on math! (Trust you all enjoyed your time with family.) However, the following students still squeezed in a little math time. Those students are listed below.
Also, if your Pioneers qualifies academically, you will be receiving notification soon regarding the spring semester of Math Pioneers. Looking forward to getting Pioneers registered again for more learning this next semester!

Hello!
Your Pioneers are doing so well! They are working hard an a variety of topics from counting coins to graphing absolute value equations. They are such a joy to teach!
This year, when a student receives five Bronze Certificate Awards, they will then be considered Silver Status Pioneers. Pioneers will then have the opportunity to reach Gold Status once they receive four Silver Certificate Awards. Accordingly, you will see the names below of the Pioneers who have received Bronze & Silver Status so far this year. Pioneers will continue to be listed at their highest earned level as long as a Certificate Award (meaning 1,000 or more points in one week) is earned that week. Watch as the Silver list grows!!! And eventually, we will see Gold!!!
The following Pioneers earned Certificate Awards for the week of September 22. By the way, the "Pioneer week" begins on Monday morning, and ends Sunday evening. Therefore, these are the awards from last week that ended on Sunday evening. This means that a number of Pioneers worked at least a few minutes over Fall Break. Keep up the great work!

Hello!
Math Pioneers is off to a great start. Thank you for getting your Pioneers to school early! As a reminder, we begin at 7:45 & go until 8:30. The Pioneers have worked very hard so far, and many have already earned a Bronze Certificate Award to be passed out at their next class. A few CCS Pioneers even made it into the TOP 100 STUDENTS IN THE USA for the Mathletics Hall of Fame!!! This is constantly updated, but keep looking for CCS students.
By the way, the Bronze Certificate Award is earned by reaching 1,000 points in a week, which starts over each Sunday at midnight. A Pioneer could realistically reach this goal in 45 60 minutes per week, and a portion of this will be accomplished in the weekly meeting. Encourage your Pioneer!
Pioneers can log into their accounts anytime by going to www.mathletics.com & using their unique username and password. This information was at the bottom of the blue letter your Pioneer brought home following their first class. If you have misplaced the username and password, please email me & I will make sure you have it.
Keep up the great work!

Mrs. Dolvin
