Monday -- Lesson 10.3 Monthly Payments and Interest: Students learned how to find the down payment and remainder to be financed. They also learned how to find the amount of interest and principal reduction from first payments.

Tuesday -- Lesson 10.4 Owner's Equity: Students learned how to find the increase in value of a home, find the outstanding balance and loan reduction at the end of a given year, and how to find the owner's equity.

Wednesday - Guest Speaker: Mrs. Tonya Reynolds spoke to the students regarding topics involving budgeting for clothing, sales, catalog/internet purchasing, etc.

Thursday - Lesson 10.5 Renting and Owning: Students learned how to find the annual cost of buying, how to find the long-term costs of renting including rent increases, and how to compare long-term renting with buying.

Students also worked on calculating exact time for loans & how to calculate interest using the Banker's Rule (exact time and ordinary interest).

Tuesday - Lesson 6.2 Add-on Loans and Annual Percentage Rates: Students learned how to calculate monthly payments for add-on loans as well as how to approximate the APR (annual percentage rate) with a constant-ratio formula (or app).

Wednesday - Stewardship & Scripture 6 and Lesson 6.3 Discount Loans: Students worked on understanding and applying biblical teachings regarding debt. Wednesday - Guest Speaker 2: Mr. Blaine Burns spoke to the students on topics relating to how math is used in his occupation and how we can have a ministry wherever God places us.

Thursday - Lesson 2.5 Area: Students reviewed how to find the area of numerous geometric figures.

Friday - Lesson 2.6 Volume: Students will continue working with area as well as finding the volume of cubes, prisms, and cylinders.

Monday - Lessons 1.1-1.7: Students reviewed all of Chapter 1 to prepare for evaluation.

Tuesday - Test 1: Students completed a test over Chapter 1

It has been a great week in Business Math. I am really enjoying working with these Upperclassmen. Here is an update on Business Math this week:

Monday - Lesson 1.1 Rates, Ratios, and Proportions. Students worked on reviewing how to express ratios and how to write and solve proportions.

Tuesday - Lesson 1.2 Percents. Students worked hard on converting among percents, ratios, and decimals as well as how to solve equations involving percents.

Wednesday - Chapter 1 Stewardship & Scripture. Students discussed how to understand and apply biblical teachings on praying for finances. As a part of this lesson, the students completed an online forum. If you are interested in reading any of their submissions, click here. (password: ccs)
